bio of candidate

Kyle Lyebyedyev is a husband, father, small business owner, and first-generation immigrant. He was born in Ukraine while still under communist control by the Soviet Union. Growing up, Kyle developed a strong desire for freedom and, in 2002, legally immigrated to the United States to pursue the freedom and happiness he had been dreaming of for years.

Kyle is running for State Legislature to give back to the community that has given so much to him. He wants to ensure all Washingtonians can achieve the American Dream, just like he did.

For Kyle, this means ensuring all children receive appropriate and high-quality education to ensure they have the tools to succeed. He believes families are better judges of how to spend their money, and government should only raise taxes as a last resort. As a small business owner, he lives the burden of unnecessary regulation and ever-increasing taxes. He wants to incentivize more family-wage jobs by making running family businesses easier.

Kyle and his wife Lily have been married for 18 years and have three children—two girls and a boy. He is a Sunday school director in their local church and very active in the Ukrainian American community.

As a first-generation immigrant in the legislature, Kyle will provide a critically important perspective on how to solve the challenges immigrants face.
