Mia has represented the 33rd Legislative District since 2013. In her time
as a lawmaker, she has taken the voice of her community to fight for
policies that protect the rights of tenants to stay housed, address the
disparity in internet access and device acquisition, and tackle the food
insecurity crisis in Washington state. Mia championed a bill that
established our nation’s very first Office of Equity, to ensure that our
state agencies are being held accountable when it comes to addressing
diversity and inclusion. Mia’s family has lived in South King County for four generations. She attended public school in the Highline and Tukwila School Districts, graduating from Foster High School. Her daughter, Alexis, lives in Portland, Oregon.
