Councilmember Bill Boyce is a longtime and active member of the Kent community. Bill Boyce has a strong history of servant leadership and has continuously worked for his community. As a child, Bill grew up in North Carolina, and while in North Carolina, he attended a segregated elementary school. Bill and his wife have lived in the Kent community since 1984.
Bill is no stranger to running for office and serving his community. Bill’s first public office was with the Kent School District School Board, where he served on the board for 16 years, including four terms as the Board President. Bill worked hard to advocate for families and children throughout his time on the board.
Bill then became the first African American to be elected to the Kent City Council. Bill is in his third term and serving as the Council President. Bill has worked hard to make the City of Kent is spending within its means and deliver the best services to the citizens that call Kent home.
In addition to serving as the President of the Council, Bill serves as the Chair of the South Cities Association Public Issues Committee, The Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority Governance Board, and The Harborview Board of Trustees.
When Bill was 18, he joined the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. Bill became a US Army Airborne Ranger Paratrooper. After leaving the Army, Bill loved Washington so much that he decided to stay and make this his home.
